I like musical space and texture, harmonic density, organic creation, and music with a little “hair” on it. The kind that sounds like risks are being taken, and the performers are grappling with the real-time problems of collaboration in a shared space… with big ears and open minds.
I want to make music that moves people while grappling with the jazz tradition. My music both elevates and challenges the tradition by intertextually weaving elements, grooves, and harmonies of hard bop with modern music and with my own journey through the history of music.
